Collection: Larimar

Larimar, known as the "Dolphin Stone" for its oceanic hues, is a rare gem found only in the Dominican Republic. Its color varies from white to deep blue, reminiscent of the sea, and it often features patterns akin to sunlight dancing on water. This gem is actually a variety of pectolite, but while pectolite is typically gray, Larimar's vibrant blue is due to copper inclusions.

Larimar is also linked to local legend, believed by some to originate from the sea and to possess healing properties. It's a relatively recent discovery in the gem world, having been found in 1916 and later rediscovered in 1974 by Miguel Méndez, who named it after his daughter Larissa, combined with "mar," the Spanish word for sea. The mining of Larimar is a careful process, as it requires preserving its limited source while supporting the local artisans who hand-mine the stones. This balance makes each piece of Larimar jewelry not just a beautiful accessory but a slice of the Dominican Republic's natural heritage.
